Reservation Staff – MICE

Department: All Markets

Major Function:

To develop and lead the MICE market segment, establishing a new department and driving sales growth through strategic planning, market analysis, and leveraging existing networks.

GENERAL OPERATIONS

Market Analysis and Product Development

  • Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the MICE market in the Maldives.
  • Visit resorts with MICE facilities alongside Emma to understand the capabilities and limitations of the Maldives.
  • Develop and build MICE products from scratch, tailored to the unique offerings of the Maldives.
  • Create detailed reports on potential and existing MICE opportunities in the Maldives.

Department Establishment (upon successful business guaranteed)

  • Set up a dedicated MICE department, including hiring and training necessary staff
  • Develop departmental policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure efficient operations.

Strategic Planning and Sales Forecasting

  • Collaborate with the accounts team to set up targets, forecasts, and budgets.
  • Develop a comprehensive sales plan to attract MICE business to the Maldives resorts.
  • Regularly review and adjust sales strategies based on market feedback and performance.

Business Development

  • Leverage existing networks of MICE agents and corporate contacts to generate initial business.
  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities within the MICE sector.
  • Collaborate with Chamindra, the Strategic Finance Director, to utilize EO and YPO networks and other club collaborations effectively.

Expansion Planning

  • Once the Maldives product is established, develop MICE products for other destinations
  • Ensure product offerings are diverse and cater to multiple markets.

Collaboration and Support

  • Work closely with Emma and other team members to ensure cohesive product development and marketing strategies.
  • Seek guidance from Nisha on leveraging her expertise in the MICE business, particularly for reaching out to the Singapore market.

OBJECTIVES AND GOALS:

Short-term (3 months)

Complete market analysis and product development for the Maldives.

Achieve initial MICE targets as set with the accounts team.

Medium-term (6 months - 1 year)

Achieve 50% of the annual sales targets for the newly established MICE department.

Build a solid network of MICE agents and corporate clients ( i.e commitment series )

Long-term (2-3 years)

Develop and launch MICE products in at least two new destinations.

Fully develop and diversify MICE offerings across multiple destinations.

Achieve 100% of annual sales targets and exceed projections.

Position the company as a leading provider of MICE services in the identified markets.

  • Maintains the highest level of personal hygiene at all times
  • To ensure that company and statutory hygiene standards are maintained in all work areas
  • To be fully aware of all health and safety, fire and emergency procedures
  • Responsible to report any potentially hazardous situations within the workplace.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the MICE industry, with a proven track record in sales and event management.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Maldives as a destination and its tourism and hospitality sector.
  • Strong network of contacts within the MICE industry.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve targets.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
